Can you give me some reasons why I should use the Naiade? |

Immediate use after installation. By avoiding the use of (contact) chemicals, the unit can be operated immediately. As soon as the container is filled and the UV lamp has been started, the unit will be able to supply about 5 litres per minute. The unit may handle up to 2,000 liters per day, thus satisfying the daily needs of up to 400 people.
Being designed for larger communities, the unit eases the supply of drinking water for greater numbers of people. Installed immediately next to the point of supply, everyone can use the Naiade. The personal purchase (or distribution) of disinfection media becomes superfluous. This spreads the costs of the unit over the whole of the community and makes safe drinking water accessible even for people without any income.
A high yield. Several tests by various official (state controlled) water quality institutes world wide have confirmed the preformance of the unit. Test results varied from 95 − 100% 'kill rate' (destruction) of bacteria, protozoa and viruses. These tests are available via info@nedapnaiade.com.
The use of state-of-the-art UV technology. Being identical to water treatment technology in large cities such as Rotterdam, Amsterdam, New York i.e., it prevents the use of chemicals. Since the use of chemicals becomes more and more unaccepted, worldwide, we think that we should not introduce technology in developing countries which we repudiate ourselves.
Robust technology. All materials as well as the applied technology are based on the intensive use in remote and tropical areas. Nedap succeeded in creating a water purification unit, which can be installed, operated and maintained by people with no technical education or background. Furthermore, all spare parts can be easily purchased, since the back up service is at a geographical local level. The unit does not use any moving parts.
The whole water treatment is done with reusable materials. The filter bags cleans the water mechanically up to 10 micron nominal. After clogging, they can be easily removed, washed and replaced.
Independent from fossil fuel or electrical network. Since the energy comes from a PV panel, daylight will do to get it 'running'. For the night hours, a simple, locally purchased, car battery, which is charged by the unit itself and is integrated in the system, will do.
The avoidance of chemicals will preserve the natural taste of the water. For treatment facilities in search of an alternative to liquid chlorine disinfection, UV treatment is one of a few technologies from which to choose. One such technology gaining acceptance in many treatment facilities is ultraviolet (UV) disinfection. It has shown it to be a costeffective alternative, as well as an effective disinfection method for such resistant pathogens as Cryptosporidium.
Although an effective disinfectant, chlorine (and related compounds) has come under increased scrutiny because of regulatory, safety, and security issues. Many treatment facilities are now considering disinfection alternatives to be used for the treatment of receiving waters. Other options for disinfection, such as ultrasonic and ozonation disinfection, show a good deal of promise, as well. These technologies, however, are particularly energy-intensive and are not yet cost effective for most applications. Also the necessary logistics may hamper an effective use.
Developed, produced and marketed via a Dutch publicaly traded company, traded at the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. This means that you are able to have a 24/7 backup of technicians and warehouse staff. Thus securing your organization and users that they will not operate a nine day's wonder. Especially for large organizations, such as (N) GO's, this secures a lasting relation and a guaranteed supply of spare parts and know-how back up.
The use of native speaking sales and distribution net. This eases the service organization for the end-users. Managed from their HQ in The Netherlands, Nedap supports, controls and educates their local sales and support force world wide, thus creating a high level of the Naiade technology and applications.
