Drinking water from Naiade Foundation with Naiade at village

Since, improving the living standards of the rural people through undertaking and promoting scientific methods and new technologies is one of the main and important objectives of IFFCO Foundation, under the support and guidance of it's dynamic, chairman Mr. Surinder K. Jakhar, Chairman, Mr. A.K.Dixit, Advisor and his team installed NAIADE - a Solar Powered Drinking Water Purification system at village Punchkosi, to help improve the health of the villagers, who were consuming water infested with bacteria and viruses causing diseases like cholera, typhoid, dysentery, diarrhea, jaundice and hepatitis A etc .

Livelihood of over 60% of the Indian population still depends on farming and it being a family affair, every member has to do his share to look after the cattle and crops. Water borne diseases cause 80% of diseases in rural areas, resulting in avoidable loss of labour and income thus further deteriorating their poor economic condition and poverty. Therefore, IFFCO Foundation decided to provide safe drinking water to the suffering villagers at their doorsteps not only to help improve their health and economic status but also to respect their human right to have safe drinking water.

Since scientists discovered that the use of disinfection chemicals on the long term may cause severe health risks, the Naiade UV technology as a modern form of water treatment is looked upon as state-of-the-art.

No long times required to decide for that!

In an agricultural environment where chemical pollutions may cause enormous income losses, he managed also to avoid to reduce the risk of fuel spillage of fuel for water treatment installations in using solar power as an energy source.

Naiade is designed, developed and supplied by the Nedap from the Netherlands. It is very easy to operate and very cost-effective to maintain. It can operate without grid electricity and provide safe drinking water at the rate of 250 lit/hour. It is a unique solution for providing safe water to the whole community.

Encouraged by the beneficial results obtained by one Naiade, three more units shall be soon installed at three different locations. To make Naiade a big success, Mr. Paul de Reus of the Nedap, the Netherlands and Mr. Mini Puri their representative at New Delhi, India provided all support and assistance.
