Is the Naiade easy to use?The use of the Naiade is very simple. Since an electronic part does all the 'thinking', such as, checking the status of the battery, the life time of the UV lamp and the charge level of the battery. One only has to press the button to start the purification of the water. The Naiade has been developed for use in rural communities with limited technical knowledge.Does Naiade need a lot of service?Maintenance is restricted to three items:1. The container needs to be cleaned every now and then, to avoid scaling by algae. 2. The PV panel needs to be cleaned with a dry cloth, since dust/dirt would reduce the output of electricity. 3. The filter bags need to be washed every now and then in order to remove colloidal parts. After cleaning, they are re-installed. The replacement of the UV lamp, after 10,000hrs of use, has to be done by trained technicians. Does it need to be installed by professionals?No, the Naiade arrives in a large cardboard box on a pallet. It includes all necessary tools and an instruction leaflet. All sub assemblies have been installed already. The unit can be operating within one hour.Where can I see the Naiade in use?Various organizations have already purchased the Naiade. How much water can be treated per day?The unit will give 5 liters of water per minute after the storage tank is filled. Assuming an unlimited supply of water, +/- 2,000 lts per day.How is the Naiade powered?The Naiade is powered via an integrated PV panel. During the hours of darkness the electricity comes from a separate battery in the foot of the unit. The battery is charged by the PV panel via an electronic unit, this makes the Naiade completely independent of any fossil fuels. |
